Article: The Free Accounter guide to the Rookgaard.

Note: The title is not wrong, it's a parody of The Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy.

Well, this guide shows you how to do things, mostly, Solo-Style (In a few things you'll need other player's help).

"Caution, this guide contains quest spoilers"

Chapter: Even the greatest dream started with a pijama.

Let's start by doing the Tutorial.

You can skip it (by telling Santiago "Skip tutorial", "yes"), but the items you get helpful on the future (either in Rookgaard or Main continent), so we recommend to not skip this phase.

You start here.

Do the Tutorial the same way as always, except the last part. When Carlos ask you to sell him food, don't miss the chance and think big.

A char with the Tutorial items can carry 22 meats, that once sold make 44 gp. Not bad to start, uh?

Chapter 2: Dressed to kill

Chapter 2.1: Copper, better than gold.

Well, after selling the food, go directly to Lilly's, the potion store clerk, and buy some Small health potions. If you want to make money go to rats and hunt enough to buy two or three potions, maybe you'll survive the next steps, but also it might not worth it. However, make sure to keep 12 gp for the next step on the guide.

I didn't sold all my food. It's your election, but the food can be helpful later.

If you buy more than one potion (Meaning you will not die on purpose), make the Doublet Quest (I didn't make it because I was planning to die, but if you bought two or three potions you should do it). To make it (the route is marked from the Temple) you'll have to go north, then west, until you find Tom (before named Tom the Tanner). From there, go north again.

Remember Tom's location, he will be your best friend for a while.

Now go down the stairhole. You will find maybe two barrels and a rat. Ignore the rat (on Max-Defense attack mode), and if there's a barrel in front of the note on the wall move it aside. Now right-click on the zone marked by the red circle (see the image), then select Use on the menu. You'll get the Doublet, a little better armor that the one you have. Go upstairs.

Now you can throw your Coat off.

Now, the next move is get north of Lilly's shop, by the road left of your position. Al'Dee will be glad to sell to you the tool that you'll need: the Scythe

Remember where this NPC is, because he sells the most commonly used items.

Now we will walk to the Bear's cave which is, taking the bridge out of town, to the east, as shown on the image..

Once there, go downstairs and follow the route marked on the map, until you find a loose stone pile. Use your shovel on the pile and go down..

If the bears you found on your way harmed you, use the food to recover your health. If you didn't got enough food, the Small Health potions will help you to get your health to 100%. Use the Scythe on the wheat plants to cut them down.

Once you cut down the wheat, get next to the fire. You'll need all the speed you can to make your way trough. Make sure to put the items as shown on the image to reduce the losses to the minimum. Throw your Scythe and Club aside. In case you need another Club, they're commonly scattered around the town.

Last chance to turn back. Once inside, the things will get hot.

Run over the fire. The less mistakes you make, the more time you'll have. When you get next to the dragon, Open it, put the shield on your free hand and the helmet on your head. Throw the empty bag to the floor.

I couldn't make a screenshot with my char, but that's how the quest looks like. You can open the dragon clicking on the lower right square, where the wings are.

If you didn't use the health potions you bought (or if you're planning to survive the quest), undo your steps, either to get off of the place or just in case that you loose any item when you die. Some players said that two potions were enough to survive. However, buy three potions to be safe.

I made my way to the exit. I lost my shovel, but it's cheap to replace (10 gp on Al'Dee's).

You will appear on the temple, with 15 exp less, but earning the best shield and helmet of Rookgaard on the way.

Chapter 2.2: Let's see who wears the pants here.

Now you have a shield, it will be easier for you to survive to the next steps.

The first of them is learning to survive from other people's garbage: Start a lucrative career as agent of the Royal Thaian Salubrity System, as Animal Biomass Transporting Technician.

The easiest option is Rats. You'll find a lot of Rat corpses on the sewers, and if you follow a higher leveled player, you'll be able to carry 3 or 4 with your current Carrying Capacity (cap) whitout any risk involved. You can also choose to go after rabbit corpses, but they're less common on the town and you'll waste time.

Amazing how people wastes a fortune. Make some GP's with another people trash, and protect the people from infections on the way.

Once you have enough corpses, take them with our good boss, Tom, who'll pay you for each rat, rabbit or wolf corpse, or wolf and bear paws

You can get enough money making this to buy a good set, or keep reading this guide to learn to get it Solo-Style.

Now let's buy some leg-protective gear. The normal clothes that a "naked" char has cannot be compared with a good set of tanned Leather legs that we can find on Obi's weapon store's second floor. 10 gp's will grant the protection of your character's "vital parts".

The Leather legs are only surpassed n armor value by the Studded Legs, that some premium players sell. You can also get them making a quest (premium player also needed) or killing the fierce Orc Spearman.

Chapter 2.3: With your boots on.

The Leather boots are item dropped by Trolls. To get them for free, go to the zones marked on the "Weapons" chapter, on the section "How to get a Club kind weapon". Check the troll's coprses, sooner or later you'll find some boots.

The Chain Armor Solo-Style quest requires to have a good weapon and some level, so we will get it later. You can also go and check the quest room from time to time to check if the door is open, or join a party that is making the quest.

Chapter 3: One man, one weapon.

Now that you have a decent equipment, you'll need to find a weapon. If you'll follow the Sorcerer or Druid path, maybe you don't care for the rook weapon. If you threw your club on the Copper Shield quest, you'll find a lot scattered trough the town. Don't worry, we will only need it to get some defensive power while we get a better weapon. Buying a Backpack is a good idea too. You can buy one for 10 GP's on Al'Dee's shop (where you bought the Scythe).

Now the guide will split, depending the kind of weapon you would like to choose.

The easiest way to get a weapon is at the stores, or buying them from other players. Maces are cheap and common on Rookgaard, people is always selling Katanas and Carlin Swords, and Hatchets are commonly found on the floors of Skeleton spawns. But as we have said we will do it solo-style, so let's find a off-hand weapon to kill the weak monsters we will find on the way.

It's convenient to buy some Small Health Potions before going out of town, so go buy them, then follow the guide to the weapon of your choice:

Club:Go, either to Troll caves north of the town, or Troll tower on the west.

Troll's corpses are always availiable, or you can find Studded Clubs scattered trough the floor.

On the zones marked on the map you will find Trolls, and if you're lucky, corpses, stuffed with valuables.

Axe: Follow the guide to Troll caves as if you were going to get a Studded club, but then go downstairs on the stairhole marked on the image. Look for any Axe, it will be a temporary weapon.

The dead Orcs are good source of resources.

Now head to the town, recover your health with food, refill your inventory if you lost Potions and let's go ahead!.

Chapter 3.2.1 Skeleton's caves.

Now head out of town, then noreast, as shown on the image. When you get there, open the hole Using your shovel on the lower middle stone pile, and go down. Remember, there's two Spiders and a Poison Spider there, so get rid of the Poison Spider first. Hit until it run and don't kill it to avoid respawning.

When you finish off the Spiders, go down and be careful with the Skeletons. Maybe someone already killed them, so open the corpses. People rarely loots the Hatchets and Brass Shields. If the Skeletons are... erhmm... Undead, and there's only one, just attack it without moving. A moving monster losts .4 seconds when attacking each time it moves, meaning you'll get advantage on attack numbers.

f there's two or three Skeletons, move to the position shown on the image. This way they will only able to attack one at time.

Don't worry if you don't get Hatchet or Mace right away, that don't means youre having bad luck. You'll get experience and Swords, Hatchets, Brass shields or Maces to sell, and buy more Small Health Potions to hunt until you get what you want..

Sword: Now, the hardest Solo-style option, the Sword. They're also buyable, but there are cheaper ways to get them: the quests. Just let's go to downtown and climb down the sewers, following the way marked on the map

This sword is of little use. We will replace it later.

The best thing to do is hunt a little to make some level and money, both of that things that you'll need. If you can buy the key 4603 (silver), will be great. If cau cannot, it may take to time get one.

When you get some level and gp, head to Lilly's shop and buy 2 Antidote Potion and some Small Health Potions. Three or four are enough. Now, head to Skeleton Cave (look the Club or Axe section to know where it is).

You may have to make this again and again, depending on how may visits you need to get the 4603 key.

Follow the same method af is we want to get the Mace or Hatchet, but when you kill the skeletons go to the spot marked on the image and Use the rope on the dark spot marked with the red circle.

You will appear on a room full with rotworms. Dodge them at your best and climb down the hole that is some squares far from you.

You'll be in a corridor with some green clouds (Poison Fields). Run through them, and when you step out of the last one, use an Antidote Potion. Change the battle mode to Full Defense. There may be two or three rotworms. Dodge them at your best while you head north trough an ally full of half-rotten corpses. Don't bother opening the corpses, they're all empty. Head north.

If you find a key on the corpse take it. If not, go back and take the eastern path. Go down the hole, kill the skeleton (if it's free) and check the door. If you're lucky the door will be unlocked.

In case you didn't find the key and the door is closed, you have two options: Logout and login later to check the corpse for the key again, or get back to town to keep leveling and trying to buy the key (or get a team that haves the key).

If you bought or got the key, go down the hole, where you must Use the key on the door, kill the skeleton (optional) and get downstairs. You'll find a room with two Skeletons and a Rotworm, behind a closed door. On the spot marked with a green circle on the map, hidden behind the column, it's a lever. Use it, and the door will be opened.

The Katana, the best obtaineable sword weapon on Rookgaard, it's on the corpse marked with the purple circle. The yellow marked one have a Viking Helmet. Take it only if you have cap, you can sell it for 25 gp on Obi's or Al'Dee's shops.

Now, you can escape trough the teleport field, marked with the blue circle. It teleports you out of the room, near the stairs. Go back by the way you came, now better armed.

Distance: I'ts not convenient to train this skill while you're on Rookgaard, but some people does it anyway. It's the most complex skill on Rookgaard, because there are two kind of weapons to select between: Spears, heavy but one handed weapons, what allows you to wear a shield, and Bow and Arrows, expensive and two-handed, but making heavier damage.

You can buy spears for 10 gp's each on Obi's shop, or get them by killing Trolls. They weight 20 oz. each.

Bow and Arrows are more convenient for Rookstayers to use. You can buy a Bow for 400 gp's talking to the Blind Orc, who also sells packages of 10 arrows for 30 gp's. If you still want (and can afford) to buy them, take the path north of town to the Troll Caves. Once there, go down, turn to the right , and use the rope on the ropespot marked on the second map. Keep going to the next floor. You will find a Poison Spider and an orc on your way. kill them or ignore them, and keep going to the next floor. On the upper floor you'll find the Blind Orc.

You need to spear Orcish to be able to buy items from the Blind Orc.

If you want to buy a bow, the sequence is:

"Charach", "Goshak Batuk", "Mok"

If you want to buy arrows, say:

"Charach", "Goshak Pixo", "Mok"

This ends the Weapons section.

Chapter 4: Everyone can use mails.

This part of the guide will be easier making it with a team. However, I'm kind the complicated guy, so let's do it Solo-Style, just on the remote case you don't find someone willing to go with you.

Any player can do this part of the guide, but the lower level and less HP you have the more potions you need. I've made this guide with a lvl 6 char, with Sword 14, Shielding 14 skills, using only the items we have gotten on this quest and 10 small healing potions. Fortunately, both quest can be made almost simultaneously.

Solo-Style rating: HARDCORE

Let's start getting some potions. Saying 12 it's not exagerated, but I have made it other times spending two. It will depend on your hability to dodge and run trough large amount of monsters. Once you have the potions, head to Troll Caves.

A place that we know well at this point of the guide.

Now, go down and head the way marked on the mini-maps. The Maze room (second map) have one or two Orcs and a lot of Wolves. Fill your HP with the food you get on wolves before going down trough the stairhole marked on the second mini-map. Don't forget to change to Full-Defense attack mode and put the Small Health potions on a hotkey before going down. Depending on the way you take, you may find 5 or 6 Wolves, 8 Orcs and up to 2 Minotaurs.

Prepare yourself to run and dodge.

If you find a Small Axe behind the rock, as shown on the red circle mark on the image, the run had been a sucess. If not, you still have the option to continue to Carlin Sword quest. If you get the Small Axe, but you don't want to make the Carlin Sword quest, turn back and ignore the stairs (Red path on the third mini-map).

If you get trapped by the monsters, watch your HP and keep a finger on the Small Health Potion hotkey, just in case. Put a Wolf or Orc on Follow and attack or push it (Both of them are low on HP and tend tu run on red HP).

For the people willing to continue to Carlin Sword Quest, just go downstairs. You will be now on a room known as Mino Hell, with 5-6 Minotaurs and two Wolves. Just make the same as before, dodge, run and take the content of the boxes.

A good tip is just take the items you want, to save time and HP.

The boxes contents:

  • Fishing Rod
  • Bag with 12 arrows and 4 Poison Arrows
  • Carlin Sword

On case of need, you can isolate yourself using the chairs or the extra boxes and the table, making a space to be safe or to trap some of the Minotaurs.

Get out immediately using the same way you used to get in. Let's go to the town.

For the Bear Room Quest you will need a Pickaxe, and our good friend Al'Dee will be glad to give us one in exchange of the shiny Small Axe you've got. Head to his shop.

Get next to him and then say:

"Hi", "Pick", "Yes"

Doing this, you'll get your hand on this uncommon item.

Now let's go back to Troll Cave (yes, again!) and go down the Quest way.

Instead of going north to the Maze Room, go east as shown on the first mini-map. You'll find a room with 3 or 4 Orcs. The easiest way to avoid them is just get on Full Defense mode and ignore them while we get to the west, and then south to find the next stairhole (second Mini-map)

Go north, then East, you'll probably find something like what you see on the image (maybe there's a chest instead the lever marked with the red circle. Just move it to see the lever).

Tirn the lever to the right to get rid of the rock that blocks the door.

Maybe you get the same message that i've got (You see a closed door. It's locked.) What to do now? Well, that's what we need the Pickaxe for. Use it on the square where you can see the hole on the image and go down. On the red circle marked chest you'll find a Backpack with a Present Box, plate, vase and jar (you can throw the last three to the floor).

When you climb down the hole, you will find another chest. Open it and you will get the key 4601 (Copper), that fits on the Bear's Room door.

Now you must only open the door, kill the bear and take the quest items:

  • Circulo Rojo: Chain Armor
  • Círculo Verde: Brass Helmet
  • Circulo Azul: Bag con 12 arrows y 40 gp.

The Chain Armor weights a lot (100 Oz.) so be sure you have enough capacity cargo (cap) before trying to take it. On the other two chests, each map reset spawns: 9 spears, 4 arrows, 2 sabres, a mace and a hatchet.

This is the end of the important quests.

Chapter 5: What else?

Now an optional quest, if you can get the help of a reliable player.

To start: We need to buy 4 or 5 Small Health potions. You may require more, but usually is less. Now, we get out of the town and take the route shown on the image, until we get to Wasp Tower.

You will find some Wolves and Spiders on your way here.

Near the entrance of the Tower you must be careful, because a Wasp guards the entrance, and also you may find lured Orcs or Orc Spearman. But nothing we cannot handle, right?

The route is easy. Just going up, dodge and kill.

Here we can see the perfect position to fight more than two Wasps at once. You'll avoid unnecessary lost of HP this way. Use potions if you need them.

If the Wasps block the way to the spot, you can move left, then go down and up again to move them a little.

On the last level you will find 4 or 5 Wasps. May be harder to get into the perfect attacking spot. A tip is to get on Full-Defense Mode until you reach the spot, then get on Balanced or Full-Attack mode to kill them. Remember to watch your HP and use the potions. Once killed, just Use the Honeyflower (red circle on the image), and you'll get the rare and coverted flower.

A good tactic is to get Crates or Boxes and put it on the spots marked with purple circles to block one or more Wasps.

Now just get back to the town and go directly to the bridge that separates the Free and Premium zones, give the Honeyflower to your friend (or the player helping you), and make sure he gets talking to Lee'Delle, the Store clerck of the Premium side. A few words:

"Hi", "Honeyflower", "Bye"

And your friend may go back, bringing to you a good piece of armor, the Studded Legs, the best legs obtaineable on Rookgaard.

Another way to get them is killing the fierce Orc Spearman, that drop this tough piece of armor.

Chapter 6: Boy Scout's Trip: Hunting vermins.

On this section we will see the best places to level up. After some time playing you will find the places that works better for you, but while it happens, here we have some:

Bug Cave: A place when you get a good amount of experience with low risks. Ocasionally Bugs drop a fe GP's (between 0 and 4), good enough to start saving for the moment you leave this small and happy island. You will find this place going out of the town by the bridge and then going north, until you find the corner where the river joins the bridge. Open the loose stone pile with your shovel and go down.

This is a place frequented by the players, but if you find the whole respawn tou can go from level 2 1/2 to 3 or 4 cleaing the place

North Troll Tower: If you take the stairs west of Bug Cave and travel north, you will find a good leveling zone.

On the zone marked with purple you may find 4-5 Spiders and 2-3 Wolves.

The red circle marks a 3 staged Spider tower. Going upstairs you will find 2 or 3 spiders, and on the next floor, a Poison Spider. On the first basement there's a tunnel zone, where you may find Poison Spiders, Trolls and some Rats.

The Yellow Circle marks the North Troll Tower. There you may find, on the ground level, a Troll, on the first floor a few more trolls, on the next floor 2 or 3 Orcs, and on the last floor some sheeps that you may kill for food.

This is a good place to visit, but the fun ends quickly. You must then move to another zone and come back later.

The Swamps: The best of all hunting zones, the Swamps are full of Snakes and Wolves, that may give low experience if you kill a single one, and no GP, but if you walk trough the place killing everything you will get between 200 and 400 experience points (or more) without much risk, if you get all the respawn of the zone marked on purple.

On the place marked with the red circle you will find a hole, wich you can use to get to the Spider cave, a cave full of Spiders, Poison Spiders and some Bugs. On this cave you get a good amount of GP, and A LOT of experience. Be sure to bring some Small Health potions, because altrough Poison Spiders don't hit high damage, their poison will drain your health slowly.

As an extra, the cape marked with a checkmark hosts a loose stone pile behind a tree. A movement of your shovel will change it on an underground leading portal, where 8 Skeletons awaits you (one on the first basement, two on the second, and five on the third). As you may guess, it's a place where you can make fortunes on loot (Maces, Hatchets, Swords, Viking Helmets and Brass Shields), but you may spend a considerable amount of Health Potions, depending on your skills, equip and attack strategy.

When you finish with the tour, you can go a little nort, kill the Wasp and turn back. Frequently, the monsters have respawned back.

The East Coast: Now, getting back trough the bridge or the Bug Cave (hopefully, with a few levels more) we will head toward east.

Purple zone marks the eastern equivalent to the Spider Cave. Here we will find Poison Spiders, Spiders and Bugs, that you may easily kill to earn a decent amount of experience. Just remember to watch your HP and don't get cornered.

The red circle marks a stair. Going downstairs is the Wolf Lair, a wolves' hideout, where you can get some food. There are usually 5 or 6 wolves.

The yellow circle marks the Graveyard zone, where we made Katana quest. A good place to make money on Maces and Hatchets.

The orange circle marks a zone where the Wolves are in a good amount. Remember that oy can sell food to an NPC on the town, making a little more profitable your hunt.

Going quckly from a zone to another you can level up fast and get money without much problems.

Chapter 7: I want to thank my manager

Well, this is the end of the guide.

The desired effect.

Thanks

To Iterative and Bear Hunter Amera, without your images this guide would not have been possible.

Remember, this is not the end, but only the starting of a story that may be as great as you want to.
